Bluetooth Headset Radiation
Radiation concerns from mobile phones sometimes pop up in the news. While all studies are inconclusive, if this is something that concerns you, you should know that for the most part, Bluetooth headsets emit far less radiation than mobile phones.
Bluetooth uses the microwave radio frequency spectrum from 2.4 GHz to 2.4835 GHz. The maximum power output from a Bluetooth radio is 100 mW for Class 1 Bluetooth, 2.5 mW for Class 2 Bluetooth, and 1 mW for Class 3 Bluetooth. Class 1 is roughly at the same level as mobile phones, and the other two classes are much lower.
Class 1 Bluetooth headsets are comparable to that of mobile phones. Class 2 and Class 3 are considered much less of a potential hazard then mobile phones.
Most Bluetooth headsets are Class 2 headsets, which give you a 33 foot range and a maximum power output of 2.5 mW, which is very low. We carry one Class 1 Bluetooth headset, the Dragon CallPod, which gives you a 327 foot range, but a higer power output closer to that of a mobile phone.
