Manufacturer's Own Hype
"With its sober and elegant design, its high definition OLED screen, the Bluetooth hands-free car kit Parrot MK6100 enables you to establish in a few seconds any phone conversations in your vehicle without needing to handle the telephone, even leaving it in your pocket. Once paired, connection with your mobile is made in a completely transparent way. An incoming call? Press the green button to take the call while the kit mutes the sound of the car radio automatically during the conversation.
The Parrot MK6100 automatically synchronizes the names and phone numbers in your mobile with its phone book. When you receive a call, the name and the number are displayed on the screen. To follow on your conversation in a discrete mode, switch instantaneously the communication towards your Bluetooth headset or your telephone. Another unique feature: the screen of the Parrot MK6100 is detachable from its support when you leave your vehicle, for ultimate security."
Editor's Comment
The good news:The MK6100 is compatible with every Bluetooth phone we've tested with, and installs with most OEM and aftermarket car stereo systems (to play music from your Bluetooth stereo device like an Apple iPhone). The 6 button interface on the MK6100 is intuitive and is easier to use than other brands. This Bluetooth car kit has all the bells and whistles.
Consider also:The control unit will need to fit on to your steering wheel (outright annoying to drive) or hand hold on the driver's door, which can be challenging in some cars. The sound quality on this car kit is AWFUL. Most calls ended in head banging frustration as my callers didn't understand anything I was saying. To make matters worse, this is by far the most expensive car kit we carry.
Bottom line:The Parrot MK6100 was designed with too much focus on tons of features, but not enough time getting the sound quality right. This car kit is pretty much useless. Save yourself some money with the BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Blue Ant Supertooth 3 or the Motorola MotoRokr T505 speakerphones.
